Dr. Bernie Jensen

Golf Psychology

Dr. Jensen has an extensive background in sport and exercise psychology, and he has consulted with professional and top amateur athletes and teams in a wide variety of sports.

Much of his work has involved consulting with PGA, LPGA, Korn Ferry, Epson, and mini-tour professionals along with top amateur and junior golfers in Central Florida.

Dr. Jensen previously served as the Assistant Coach of both the Men’s and Women’s golf teams at the University of Central Florida (UCF), and he is currently the mental performance coach for the Bethune-Cookman University’s Women’s Golf Team.

Dr. Jensen retired in 2021 from UCF where his primary teaching and research interests were in clinical, health, and sport psychology; and he published or presented over 100 research papers in the areas of sport psychology, exercise adherence, behavioral assessment, and relationship satisfaction.

Dr. Jensen has been a consultant to the University of Central Florida Athletic Department, Orlando, Florida; LGE Sport Science, Inc., Lake Nona, Florida; Florida Hospital (now AdventHealth) Sports Medicine Programs, Orlando, Florida; Winter Park Health Foundation, Winter Park, Florida; Peggy & Philip B. Crosby Wellness Center, Winter Park, Florida; the Professional Golfers Association (PGA) of Bermuda; and the Florida Athletic Coaches Association (FACA).

Dr. Jensen earned his B.S. degree in psychology from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois, where he was a member of the golf team; received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in clinical psychology from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale; and completed his clinical residency at the University of Florida Medical Center.

Dr J is a low single-digit amateur golfer who has won the Senior Club Championship at The Club at Venetian Bay in New Smyrna Beach, Florida; the Super Senior Club Championship at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Florida; and the Volusia County (Florida) Amateur Super Senior Golf Championship at Sugar Mill Country Club in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.
